Begin by treating every pipe and valve as occupied space. Note where the drain enters the wall, where the P-trap drops, and how far the supply valves project. Do not plan to bend a rigid line or hide a valve behind a full bin.

Take measurements at the front, center, and back. The available width may change as pipes move toward the wall.

• P-trap: record its lowest point and widest bend.
• Supply lines: note side-to-side position and slack.
• Shutoff valves: preserve hand access and visibility.
